There are a lot of different mentalities when it comes to packing your backpack for your camping, rock climbing, or canyoning trips. Depending on your personality type and your exact trip plan, you may want to go for a more conventional, full, or minimalist approach to choosing camping accessories. The mentality for the “full approach” says that camping accessories should include anything you may want to do on the trip, and this method is usually best when you're looking at a location that is only a slight ways away from where you're parking. After all, you don't want to haul all of those optional accessories too far! This is more for family trips where young ones need to be distracted and entertained by more than just nature. The “conventional approach” to camping says that you should take the needed things, and the lighter the better, but only within convenience. The camping accessories you bring will be the ones that you find at a camping outfitter or similar location, but they'll be on the cheaper end. The “minimalist approach” takes all the same ideas of accessories from the conventional approach and trims down the pounds and ounces as much as is possible. The lighter stoves and more expensive gear, often times sacrificing comfort for lightweight options (like lightweight tents) is the name of the game. This is for people going a long distance and who have more adventurous spirits. Be sure to look at your exact trip, the nature of your companions,
the distance you'll be hiking, and the conditions you'll be hiking
through and to, before making a final decision. |
